Hindu Mohajote leader held under ICT Act

Police on Wednesday arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mohajote, in a case filed under the ICT Act for posting derogatory comment about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pubh) on social media site Facebook. Sub-Inspector Sayed Imroj of Jakiganj police station, said the police arrested Rakesh from Lalakhal area in Jaintiapur upazila while trying to enter India illegally around 7am. Later, the police produced him before the court led by Magistrate Khairul Amin on 10-day remand prayer. The court also granted four-day remand for him. Rakesh posted a comment on Facebook degrading Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pubh) few days back. Fujayel Ahmed, a leader of Chhatra Jamiat, filed the case against Rakesh, Sylhet divisional secretary of Hindu Mohajote, on Monday afternoon under section 57(2) of the act, said Sugayan Chakma, superintendent of police.
