A freedom fighter has committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Madaripur's Kalkini upazila on Thursday.
Rajeshwar Joydhar was 78 years old and had long been suffering from many illnesses.
Local sources said Rajeshwar had been taking medical treatment for a long time but his health had not been improving.
The Dashar police officer-in-charge, on visiting the spot where the incident took place, said: “Rajeshwar was suffering from illness because of his age. He took his own life due to depression.”
