A Rangamati court has granted bail to Chaina Patwari, a female Chhatra Union leader of Chittagong University (CU), in a case filed under the Section 57 of the ICT Act.
Judge Mohammad Kawser of the District and Sessions Court passed the order on Monday.
Chaina is a student of CU's music department and the cultural affairs secretary of the left-leaning student front's Arts Faculty unit, was sued for allegedly posting a slanderous status on Facebook.
Kotwali police took her in their custody in the afternoon of June 2. Five hours later, a local Chhatra League leader named Ehsan Uddin Writu filed the case with the police station accusing her.
Afterwards, police showed her arrested in the case.
She is also the student organisation's Rangamati district unit cultural affairs secretary.
