Two held for raping two girls in Thakurgaon

Update : 22 Jun 2017, 09:50 PM
Police have detained a quack doctor and an Ayurvedic practitioner for raping two girls in the sadar upazila of Thakurgaon district. Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Md Hanif confirmed that locals caught quack doctor Narendra Chandra Roy and Ayurvedic practitioner Baleshwar Chandra Roy of Laxmipur village in the upazila and handed them over to police on Thursday. The two victims, both paternal cousins aged around 20, are being treated at Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital. The victims' family members alleged that Baleshwar had long acted as a matchmaker, trying to find bridegrooms for the two girls. On Thursday morning, he called the girls to his house by saying that he had planned to introduce the girls to potential matches there. He also called his neighbour Narendra to his house. The two men injected the girls with sedatives and raped them one after another. The rapists later hired an auto-rickshaw to send the victims to their homes. However, as the victims fell unconscious on the way, some locals came to know about the incident and informed the victims' family members. The agitated locals later caught the two accused and handed them over to police. SI Hanif said they will take the next step after getting the statement of the victims.
