A teenage indigenous girl was raped by a youth from a different indigenous community - reportedly her boyfriend - in the EPZ area in Chittagong on Friday.
According to EPZ police, a 17-year old Chakma girl from Khagrachhari, was admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) with her genitals bleeding profusely.
The accused, Sunil Tripura, 21, son of Kolakoli Tripura from Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari, was arrested in the early hours of Monday from an apartment in Chittagong's Barrister College Road.
Sub-Inspector Jahedullah Zaman told the Dhaka Tribune the victim's father had filed a case against Sunil late Sunday night
The SI said both the victim and the accused worked at different apparel factories in the Chittagong EPZ.
Quoting the victim and her family, the police officer said Sunil talked her into a relationship. He then asked her to visit him at his house in the EPZ area on Friday morning where he rendered her unconscious.
According to her testimony, the victim was unconscious between 10am and 11pm, during which she war raped.
She was rescued in a brutalised state and and immediately admitted to CMCH.
