Akbar Shah police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossen told the Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday that he would be produced in court later in the day.
The murder case was filed with Akbar Shah police station on Wednesday over the murder. Ateef’s father Abdul Khalique lodged a FIR with the police station on Tuesday against all eight attendees of a party his son organised at his flat in the Foy’s Lake area of the port city on the night of his death.

Apart from Paresh and Sojol, who are Bangladeshis, all the other students are from the Indian state of Manipur, as was the victim.
Ateef Sheikh, 25, a final year MBBS student in University of Science and Technology of Chittagong (USTC), was stabbed allegedly by Maisnam Winson Singh, a fellow Indian and a USTC student, on Friday night after the party.
Later, Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) doctors declared him dead.
Maisnam was also found hanging from the ceiling in the same room and police suspect that he tried to kill himself after murdering his friend.

Ateef’s parents arrived in Chittagong on Monday and have been co-operating with police and university officials with the investigation.
Police took five passports in custody, including that of Ateef, after the incident. No one has been arrested in the case so far.
