Bodies of 4 missing lightning victims found in Bangshi River

The bodies of four factory workers of Akhter Furniture, who went missing after lightning struck their trawler on Tuesday, were found floating in the Bangshi River on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Mahela Begum, Sree Nati Rani, Dipu, and Hosne Ara Begum, said Savar Fire Station Senior Officer Liton Ahmed. Furthermore, a woman who had been injured in the same incident but was rescued on Tuesday succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday, Liton added. Her identity was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report. Earlier on Tuesday, 17 factory workers of Akhter Furniture were injured and 5 went missing after lightning struck the trawler they were using to cross the river while commuting to work in Katlapur of Savar. Of the 17, two - Shohag and Abdul - were pronounced dead upon arrival at Savar Upazila Health Complex while eight were sent home after they were given first aid. The remaining seven were admitted to the health complex before later being sent to DMCH. After Wednesday’s developments, six remain admitted to DMCH while one person is still missing.
