Rohingya boats reportedly capsize in Teknaf, 4 bodies recovered
Police have recovered the bodies of four Rohingyas from near Shah Porir Dwip under Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar district. The bodies were recovered Wednesday morning. Teknaf police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Moinuddin told the Dhaka Tribune: "The bodies were seen floating off the shore in the morning. "We then went to the spot and recovered the bodies of two women and two children." On the other hand, our correspondent Adil Shakhwat reported that two boats carrying Rohingya refugees capsized near Shah Porir Dwip in the morning. When asked, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Commanding Officer SMS Ariful Islam said: "We have not heard about the boat capsize but we have been informed that four bodies were seen off the shore." Mohammad Solim, a boatman living in Shah Porir Dwip, told the Dhaka Tribune: "The boat capsized while trying to enter Bangladesh through the Bay of Bengal. One of the boats was carrying at least 22 Rohingyas." Locals claimed that at least 50 Rohingyas died in the incident.
