Raped 8 months ago, a minor gives birth to dead baby

Police in Chuadanga have arrested a youth for allegedly raping a madrasa student. The development came on Thursday night after the victim's father sued the culprit, Al Amin. Earlier in the day, the victim, aged around 14, hailing from Deuli village under Damurhuda upazila of the district, gave birth to a dead baby. In the wake of the incident, the victim's family made it public that Al Amin, 22, son of Abdus Samad from the same village, had violated her eight months ago. According to them, Al Amin had developed an affair with the girl, a sixth grader in a local madrasa, in the beginning of the current year. Taking advantage of the relation, he raped the underage girl in February, eventually impregnating her, they said. Confirming the arrest, Damurhuda police station's Officer-in-Charge Md Fakhrul Alam Khan said the dead child was sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for necessary medical tests, which would be essential to collect evidence for the case.
