Mohiuddin flown to Singapore for better treatment

Veteran Awami League leader and former Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury has been taken to Singapore for better treatment. This was confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune by family sources on Thursday afternoon. Earlier on Thursday, Mohiuddin's eldest son Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury, organising secretary of Awami League, told the Dhaka Tribune that his father was being shifted to Singapore by an air ambulance after his condition was found stable.

Mohibul said: “He (Mohiuddin) is being shifted to Singapore as per the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. His surgery would be conducted at Glen Eagle Hospita,” The ailing Awami League leader was transferred from Chittagong's Max Hospital to Square Hospital in Dhaka around 3pm on Nobember 12. He has been suffering from kidney diseases, diabetes and several other ailments for a long time. He was admitted to the Max Hospital on November 11 after he fell severely ill.
