Journalist Utpal Das, who was missing for the past two and a half months, has been found, say his friends and family members.
His friend journalist Rajib Ahmed, who works at Daily Samakal, confirmed the Dhaka Tribune around Tuesday midnight that Utpal was dropped off at Bhulota, Narayanganj by several unidentified persons.
This Dhaka Tribune correspondent also spoke to Utpal over phone around 12:30am. He said he was heading for his village home at Raipura, Narsinghdi and was waiting at a gas station at Rupganj for a bus.
He declined to say anything else regarding his disappearance at the moment. “We will talk more after I return to Dhaka from home.”
A little after, Utpal's father Chittaranjan Das told the Dhaka Tribune that his wife talked to their son only 30 minutes ago. “He said he is coming home.”
The senior reporter of news portal purbopaschimbd.com, who lived in a flat in Dhaka’s Fakirapool, had gone missing after leaving his office at Motijheel on October 10.

His sister Binita Rani Das also confirmed that Utpal spoke with their mother over phone around Tuesday midnight, reported the Bangla Tribune.
Chittaranjan added: “We do not yet know where he was all these days or who had him. We got our son back. That is all we wanted.”
Before he talked to his family and close friends, Utpal’s colleagues and friends had received a notification on instant messaging app Viber saying his phone was active again. Then several of them spoke to him.
After he went missing, his family and purbopaschimbd.com had filed two general diaries at Motijheel police station on October 22 and 23, respectively.
Motijheel police OC Omar Faruk said they were yet to be notified about Utpal resurfacing. “We are looking into it.”
Since his mysterious disappearance, his family, friends, colleagues and different journalist associations had been demanding assistance from the authorities to find him.
