
Rajshahi University (RU) has reduced the minimum qualifications required to apply for the post of lecturer and formulated a new policy regarding the matter on Saturday night, university authorities said.
However, the changes will not affect the departments of science, biology, geology, agriculture, and engineering.
The previous requirement of a minimum 3.5 GPA at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels has been relaxed. Under the new policy, any student who is eligible for admission to the university will be able to apply for the post of lecturer.
Professor Akter Faruk, syndicate member and dean of the department of science, confirmed the matter.
Previously, the minimum CGPA requirement to apply for the post of lecturer was increased to 3.5 at both the undergraduate and post-graduate levels in 2015, during a syndicate meeting chaired by RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mizanuddin.
According to the new rules, applicants need a minimum CGPA of 3 at both the undergraduate and post-graduate level to apply for the post of lecturer at the departments of arts, fine arts and the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS).
Applicants for lecturer posts at the departments of cocial science, law, business education, and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) should have a minimum CGPA of 3.25 at the undergraduate and post-graduate level.
