2 held with arms, ammo in Khagrachhari

Two people have been arrested with arms and ammunition from Premtola area under Ramgarh upazila in Khagrachhari. A joint team of Army and police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Sujan Chakma and Abbai Marma early Monday. An AK-22, two local weapons, 14 rounds of bullets and some documents were seized in the raid. According to police sources the arrestees might be activists of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), a local political party active in the hills. Ramgarh police station Officer-in-Charge Shariful Islam said legal steps will be taken against the arrestees. UPDF has not made any official statement about the arrests.
