
The Hill Women's Federation (HWF) has announced a dawn-to-dusk blockade on road and riverways of Rangamati on Saturday, in protest of the rape of two teenage sisters from a Marma family.
The announcement was made through a statement issued on Thursday.
The statement read that the blockade will be enforced to press home six-point demands, including the death penalty for those involved in the rape.

Rangamti town will remain out of the purview of the blockade.
In addition, ambulances, fire services, emergency power supply and vehicles carrying newspapers will not be obstructed during the program.
Two teenage sisters of a Marma family were raped and sexually assaulted allegedly by members of security forces in Orachhari village under Farua Union in Rangamati’s Belaichari upazila on January 22, an incident which has raised a barrage of criticism on social media.
