Suspected robber killed in Lakshmipur 'gunfight'

A suspected robber has been shot dead in a "gunfight" between two groups of robbers in Berirmatha area of Lakshmipur district. The deceased is Jabed Mintu, son of Hossian Ahmed of Itkhola village. Chandraganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mokter Hossain said Mintu was injured in the "gunfight" which was triggered following a dispute between the gangs over sharing of money early Wednesday. He said: "On information, we rescued injured robber and sent him to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead." Meanwhile, police recovered a firearm, eight rounds of bullets and 10 shells of bullets from the spot. The OC said Mintu was accused in 18 different criminal cases, including four robbery.
