The OC of Ukhiya police station said elephants often attack locals in these areas. The Rohingyas have built shacks near the forest, close to areas that are inhabited by elephants, increasing the risk of such attacks.A wild elephant rampaged through Kutupalong Rohingya camp on Thursday, killing one person and injuring several others at around 8:30am. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nikarujjaman confirmed the incident.
The attack occurred at block D4 of the Modhuchara area in Kutupalang camp. Around 30 people received minor injuries and 20 huts were demolished.
