At least 10 people, including two children, have been killed and 50 others injured in a fatal road accident on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Tribordi in Sonargaon upazila, Narayanganj, reports UNB.
A Chittagong-bound bus crashed into a parked lorry from behind when its driver lost control, leaving eight passengers dead on spot and 52 others injured around 2pm on Monday, said Kanchpur highway police OC Abdul Qaiyum.
Locals had rescued the injured and sent 24 of them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and the rest to Sonargaon Upazila Health Complex.
Among the injured, two succumbed to their injuries on way to DMCH, Qaiyum added.
One of the deceased was identified as Yasmin, a worker of Ananta Trading garment.
Police officials feared that the death toll might rise.
