Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Friday said it is appropriate to keep BNP out of the state power for the sake of democracy.
"BNP leaders remain silent about removing razakars [from the party] but [are] crying for the release of their corrupt party chief. This is harmful for democracy," he said while speaking to reporters prior to a book launch in Kushtia on Friday.
In reply to BNP leaders' allegation that the government remained silent about freeing Khaleda Zia from jail, the minister said it is best to keep those out of power who remain silent about removing razakars from the party and raise voice for “saving a corrupt person.”
District unit President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Golam Mohsin, its General Secretary Abdul Alim Swapan, and poet Ziaur Rahman, among others, were present during the event.
