SUST brings out silent procession

Teachers, students and staff members of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST)’s Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electric and Electronics Engineering (EEE) departments brought out a silent procession at the university campus on Monday, protesting the attack on the noted writer and professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal. The procession started from the university’s MA Wazed Miah (IICT) building around 10:30am. Later, the protesters walked around the campus and took position in front of their central library. CSE department’s Prof Mohammad Shahidur, Prof Reza Selim, Prof Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Associate Prof Md Masum, Assistant Prof Mahruba Sharmin Chowdhury, Md Saiful Islam and EEE department’s Assistant Prof Md Mehedi Hasan, among others, were present in the procession. And the police was not negligent about security.” Students, who participated at the procession, later said they were shocked by the attack on their beloved professor. “This was an attack on all the SUSTians and the country. We want an exemplary punishment for the attacker,” they added.

SUST teachers abstain from work

SUST teachers also abstained from work from 11am to 1pm, protesting the attack on their colleague. They took position in front of the Vice-Chancellor’s office. The program was organized by Teachers Association of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUSTTA). Professor Syed Hasanuzzaman, president of SUSTTA, presided over the program in the presence of SUST Proctor Zahir Uddin Ahmed.
