Women’s rights activists have expressed concern over the abduction of the two leaders of Hill Women’s Federation and demanded efforts to rescue them.
They made the demand in a joint statement on Saturday.
The activists of a number of women’s rights organizations also demanded that punishment be meted out to the abductors.
They expressed concern over the security of the victims’ family members as the abductors threatened to kill them for filing a case.

Monty Chakma, general secretary of Hill Women’s Federation and Doyasona Chakma, central member of the same group, were abducted by a group of masked men from Kutukchhari in Rangamati on March 18.
The signatories are Seema Dutta, president of Bangladesh Nari Mukti Kendra, Shampa Basu, general secretary of Samajtantrik Mohila Forum, Nasima Naznin of Biplobi Nari Mukti, Aparajita Chanda, general secretary of Nari Sanghati, Nirupa Chakma, president of Hill Women’s Federation, Luna Noor of women’s cell of Communist Party of Bangladesh, Roushan Ara Rusho, president of Samajtantrik Mohila Forum, Amena Akhtar, member of Biplobi Nari Forum and Bonhishikha Jamali, president of Sromojibi Nari Moitree.
