Proprietor of the legendary sweets shop Matribhandar of Cumilla Shankar Sengupta has died on Saturday.
Shankar, also a freedom fighter, breathed his last at his own house in Manoharpur of Cumilla town. His wife, son and two daughters were present at his deathbed.
A guard of honour was accorded to him at Cumilla town hall playground on Sunday morning.
Commander of Cumilla district freedom fighter organization Shafiul Alam Babul, Executive Officer of Cumilla Sadar upazila Md Shamsuzzaman, Officer In-charge of Kotwali police station Abu Salam Mia, and other freedom fighters were present at that time.
Shankar Sengupta started the legendary Matribhandar sweets shop in 1930.
