State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Monday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the initiative to implement 11 free WiFi hotspot zones on the beaches of Cox's Bazar, to increase the attraction of the area as a tourist spot.
He made the announcement in a program titled "Cox's Bazar Cleaning Campaign-2018" organized by Cox's Bazar district Chhatra League in the coastal town.
During the program, Zunaid praised the district Chhatra League's initiative to regulate free medical supplies among the Rohingya camps over the span of 192 days. He also commended Chhatra League's efforts to keep the beaches of Cox's Bazar clean.
The State Minister further said: "Our ministry is working to develop the tourism sector of Bangladesh, including Cox's Bazar. We are marketing the tourist spots and information about them through the internet."
After the program was over, Zunaid and the others present took an oath to keep the beaches of Cox's Bazar clean and beautiful.
Aside from the State Minister, Member of Parliament Asheq Ullah Rafique, District Commissioner Md Kamal Hossain, Cox's Bazar District Police Superintendent Dr AKM Iqbal Hossain, Addl Police Superintendent Md Zillur Rahman, President of Cox's Bazar Awami League Sirajul Mostofa, abd Vice President Rezaul Karim all spoke at the program.
