Rangpur Lawyers' Association gives 24-hour ultimatum for Rangpur PP's return

The Rangpur Lawyers' Association has threatened tougher measures if Rangpur Special Court's Special Public Prosecutor Rathish Chandra Bhowmik is returned within 24 hours. The ultimatum was issued at a protest organized by the Rangpur Lawyers Association on Tuesday. Rathish Chandra Bhowmik, who represented the state in the Hoshi Kunio and Khadem Rahmat Ali murder cases, has been missing since March 30. Different organizations have been staging protests, human chains and hunger strikes demanding Rathish's safe return.

On Tuesday, Hindu-Christian-Buddhist Unity Council and District Puja Udjapon Parishad staged a mass hunger strike in front of Rangpur Press Club from 10am-5pm. Leaders from different political and social organizations gave speeches at the gathering held after the strike. Other than that, people from Rathish's own locality have organized human chains and rallies, which attracted a large number of supporters, demanding the public prosecutor's speedy return.
