Father beaten up for protesting daughter’s harassment in Bhola
A father was beaten up by a group of stalkers in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola on Wednesday, after he protested eve-teasing aimed at his daughter on Facebook. Assault victim Md Akhter Hossain Faruk is a teacher at Nazimpur Madrasa in the upazila. Speaking to UNB, he said a group of stalkers led by local tout Piyal had long been harassing his daughter Mim Akhter. The harassment included an incident where the stalkers uploaded a photo of Mim on Facebook and posted scandalous comments. Akhter Hossain was on the way to inform the headmaster of Hajir Hat Secondary School and protest over the harassment when he was attacked at around 9am. The attackers included Piyal's nephew Munna and his friend Ratul. Locals rescued Akhter and admitted him to Lalmohan Sadar Hospital, from where he was sent to Bhola for better treatment in the afternoon. Later, Akhter Hossain was sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Lalmohan police station OC Mir Khairul Kabir said no official complaint had been filed over the attack as yet. He added that necessary legal action would be taken after the filing of the written complaint.
