Former AL leader held by locals for extra-marital affair
A man and woman were handed over to police on Saturday afternoon in the Ghatail upazila of Tangail, after locals discovered their illicit affair. The two were dicovered together in Shorabari Chegar village of Rasulpur union in the early hours of Saturday. According to locals, the man is Saidur Rahman Sharif from Shaliabaha village of Rasulpur union, being a former general secretary of the local ward of Awami League. Saidur who has three wives and three daughters, had a prolonged affair with the wife of a local man who works in Libya. The 25-year-old woman is the mother of a child. Locals caught the two in a compromising situation at around 1:30 am in the early hours of Saturday. Following this, hundreds of people came to witness the guilty parties before they were handed over to the police. Local Union Parishad member Nurul Islam said the couple was interrogated, before influential locals handed them over to the police. Ghatail police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Anisur Rahman said: “Locals captured Saidur and the woman and informed us, so we went and brought them here.”
