A dawn-to-dusk hartal is underway in Khagrachhari demanding immediate rescue of three abducted Bangali youths.
The hartal, enforced by Parbatya Bangali Chhatra Parishad, began early Monday.
Picketing was reported in different areas of the district.
Long-route bus communication remained suspended due to the hartal. Meanwhile, plying of CNG-run auto rickshaws and human haulers was also limited.
Security measures have been strengthened to avoid any untoward incident.
Khagrachhari Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Sahadat Hossain Tito said: “We are giving security to the night coaches entering the district from Dhaka.”
On April 16, timber traders Md Mohoram Ali and Md Salauddin, and pick-up van driver Bahar Miah went missing when they went to buy timber from Maischhari area under Mohalchhari upazila.
