The two Bangladeshis were detained by the BSF and handed over to the Indian police

The Border Security Force (BSF) of India detained two Bangladeshi men near the Lalmonirhat border.

According to local sources, Milon Hossain and Monjur Rahman, resident of Durgapur in Aditmari upazila, had crossed over the border into India to procure cows. Whether they intended to legally purchase the cows or smuggle them in could not be confirmed.

They were allegedly at a local panchayat campaign rally when the BSF caught up to them.

Lt Col Golam Morshed, commander of the Lalmonirhat 15 BGB Battalion, said: “Milon was caught red-handed with drugs last December. After he got out on bail, Milon went back to smuggling.”

The BGB commander said he held a flag meeting with his BSF counterpart where he was informed of Milon and Monjur being handed to the Indian police by the BSF.
