In the village of Mirergaon in Sylhet sadar upazila, two siblings - Babul Mia, 8, and Imon Mia, 12, sons of Badar Uddin, and Abdul Amin, 20, son of Bilal Uddin, were fishing in a haor when they were struck by lightning during a rain in the evening.
All three died on the spot, according to Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad police station.
Another was killed during a fishing trip to the haors in the neighbouring upazila of Tahirpur. Jahur Alam, 35, was struck by lightning when he was out fishing in a haor near his village of Menjargaon.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Purnendu Dey confirmed his death, reports UNB.
Earlier on Saturday, 25-year-old Liton Boishaw from Porakot, Nilphamari, was struck by lightning when he was fishing in a local water body early in the morning, reports the BSS.
Also on Saturday afternoon, Abdul Karim, 35, a paddy farmer, was killed by a sudden lightning bolt when he was out harvesting in the village of Teghoria in Baniachong upazila in Habiganj.
Mozammel Haque, officer-in-charge of Baniachong police station confirmed his death.
