Businesses at the Akhaura and Sonamasjid land ports will remain closed on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest yearly Muslim religious festivals.
However, immigration services will remain open at both ports during this time, authorities said.
Operations at the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria will remain suspended for five days staring from Friday.
“Export and import activities will remain closed on June 15-19 for Eid-ul-Fitr,” said Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of the exporters association of Akhaura land port.
He said they had already sent letters to the Indian traders about the holidays.
The Sonamasjid land port in Rajshahi will remain closed for six days starting from Thursday, reported BSS.
Activities will resume on June 19, said Sonamasjid import and export group sources.
