A Bangladeshi truck driver has been tortured by Indian workers after his vehicle ran over one of their co-workers in Petrapole, the Indian side of the Benapole Land Port.
The truck driver, Ariful, is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bangaon, a city of West Bengal state in India.
Benapole Land Port Director Aminul Islam said the Indian worker was killed by the truck laden with export goods from Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Following the incident, the victim’s co-workers caught the truck driver and tortured him indiscriminately.
Later, they handed over the driver to the police—who admitted him to the hospital.
The Indian police impounded the truck.
