The river is now flowing 48 centimetres above danger level
Water level is increasing rapidly in a number of rivers, including the Surma, Kushiara, and Dhonu in Sunamganj due to incessant rainfall and onrush of water from hilly areas, officials say.
The Surma River is now flowing 48cm above the danger level at the Shologhar point.
The Sunamganj Water Development Board recorded 38mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
Water level is increasing in the haor areas as well.
“We might be hit by floods if the situation does not improve,” said Ranjan Kumar Das, the sub divisional engineer of the Water Development Board.
