Commander Lt Col Mahbubur Alam of RAB 5 confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, saying: “On a tip off that a gang of drug peddlers will gather at Damkura area to trade illegal narcotics, RAB conducted a raid in Paba upazila.

“Sensing RAB presence, the drug dealers began firing on them, triggering a gunfight. The body of a man was later found at the scene, while other culprits managed to escape the area.”

Mahbubur continued: “We took the injured man to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), where the on duty doctor declared him dead on arrival. The identity of the deceased was confirmed through further investigation.”
