Police say they were holding a secret meeting
Satkhira police arrested nine teachers from Bakchara Madrasa in Satkhira Sadar. The police claim that the teachers joined a clandestine meeting in the madrasa.
They were arrested from BakcharaAhmediaDakhil Madrasa on Thursday afternoon.
Satkhira investigative police officer Mohidul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune: “Several Jamaat-e-Islamis have been employed at Bakchara Ahmedia Dakhil Madrasa as teachers. They were arrested during their secret meeting from one of the rooms in the madrasa.”
The arrested are-- Secretary of SatkhiraSadar West Jamaat, Maulana Shahadat Hossain, Agardari Union Jamaat’s Amir Maulana Abdus Samad, Golam Sarwar, Hafizur Rahman, Abul Khair, Mojammel Haque, Mozaffor Hossain, Azam Faruque, and Abdul Hamid.
Madrasa Superintendent Md Ramjan Ali said he joined the madrasa on April 1. He could not confirm whether any of the arrested were affiliated with the Jamaat.
Ramjan Ali was on leave during the arrest but he said: “During the arrest, everyone was in their classrooms.”
The police said legal action will be taken against them after further investigation.
