A road accident has killed two people after two passenger buses collided with each other at the central bus terminal’s Char Matha area in Rangpur.
The accident happened at 12:15pm on Friday and also left 20 injured.
One of the deceased has been identified as Dulal Chandra Das of Borobari area of the city. The other deceased woman has not yet been identified.
The injured were rescued by members of the fire service and admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital and different private clinics.
According to police, the accident occured when a Bogra bound bus of NK Paribahan collided with a bus of Ma er Doa Paribahan.
The buses were impounded but the drivers and driver assistants of both vehicles fled.
Rangpur Additional Police Superintendent (SP) Maruf Hasan after visiting the scene of the accident said: “The ones responsible for the accident will be arrested and brought to justice.”
