Police say the passengers of 10 buses were robbed

A gang of robbers has attacked several buses, beat up passengers, and robbed them on a road in Moulvibazar’s Sreemangal upazila. 

At least 30 people sustained injuries in the attack that occurred on Tuesday night, police said.

The gang, comprising 25-30 robbers, halted the traffic for about an hour by placing logs on Lawachara road, said Sreemangal police station’s OC KM Nazrul Islam.

The criminals, equipped with arms, machetes, and sticks, committed robbed at least 10 vehicles, he said. 

They beat up bus passengers and took away their valuables and money, the OC said. 

The injured were admitted to a local hospital, Nazrul said.  

The criminals fled the site when police arrived on the scene, he said, adding that they have launched an investigation to find the criminals.
