Five people were killed, and ten were injured in separate road accidents in Khulna and Rajshahi
Five people have been killed in separate Rajshahi and Khulna road accidents.
In Rajshahi, three people were killed in a bus-truck collision on the Rajshahi-Natore highway in the Tarapur area of Puthia upazila.
The accident occurred on Thursday midnight. Ten others were also injured.
Confirming the incident, Officer In-charge (OC) of Puthia police station, Shakil Ahmed, said a Dhaka-bound Shyamoli Paribahan bus hit a stationary sand-filled truck on the Rajshahi-Natore highway.
The truck driver, a labourer, and the bus helper, all died on the spot. However, their identities are yet to be disclosed.
The injured have been admitted to a local hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, the OC said.
In Khulna, two siblings died after their motorcycle crashed into an ambulance in the Jhilerdanga area of Dumuria upazila in Khulna.
The deceased, Oheduzzaman, 30, and Rahatuzzaman, 25, are from Tala upazila of Satkhira district.
Habil Hossain, OC of Dumuria police station, said the two brothers were going towards Satkhira from Khulna. Their motorcycle crashed into an ambulance in front of them after the ambulance collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the Jhilerdanga area around 10:30pm on Thursday.
The siblings died on the spot. Their bodies have been handed over to their relatives, said the OC.
The passengers in the ambulance and truck suffered minor injuries.
