5 Shibir members detained with petrol bombs in Sirajganj

Five people suspected of planning acts of sabotage have been taken into custody in Sirajganj.  Six petrol bombs were found in their possession.

Having received a tip-off, police detained the suspects having found them in front of the Chhongachha Madhyapara Sarkarbari Jame Masjid in the Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon, confirmed Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Daud.

Daud also said the group underwent primary interrogation on Friday night, where they confessed to planning acts of vandalism and sabotage. They were sent to the court on Saturday afternoon.

The five suspects are Hafizul Islam, 22, Nasir Uddin, 19, Obaidul Haque Naim, 16, Shobuj Islam, 19, and Mehedi Hasan, 19. 

“These five are all members of Chhatra Shibir. They gave us 16 names of which many have already had cases filed against them,” Daud said.
