A suspected robber has been killed in an alleged gunfight with police in Madaripur Sadar Upazila.
The deceased is Alim Molla, resident of the Kamalapur area in the district.
A team of DB police conducted a drive in Shirkhara area on Monday after receiving information that a group was preparing for robbery, said Madaripur Superintendent of Police Subrata Kumar Halder.
“The robbers opened fire on police and the detective team retaliated. Alim died on the spot,” he said.
Subrata claimed Alim was the leader of a motorcycle-lifting gang and was wanted in several cases including robbery.
A pipe-gun was also recovered from the spot, he added.
