3 dead, 2 injured in Faridpur road accidents

The deceased were identified as Nuru Munshi, 70 of Arialakha village and Rozina Begum, 45 of Azimnagar, Madaripur district; Mujibur Sheikh, 45 of Tujarpur upazila

Three people have been killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in the Bhanga upazila of Faridpur. 

Locals and police sources said that a Mahindra vehicle lost control on the Faridpur-Barisal highway and hit a stone-laden truck at Noapara on Thursday around 2:30am. The two passengers in the vehicle died on the spot. 

The deceased areidentified asNuru Munshi, 70 of Arialakha village and Rozina Begum, 45, resident of Rainagar at Azimnagar of the Madaripur district.

The family of the deceased said that they were both returning home due to an emergency from Faridpur town. 

On the other hand, a local RS Enterprise bushit an auto-van on the Maligram road on the Bhanga-Mawa highway at 8am on September 28.

The auto-driver Mujibur Sheikh, 45, son of Sekandar from the Tujarpur upazila, was killed on the spot. Locals blocked the road in protest, stopping the movement of vehicles for two hours.

The passengers claimed that the helper lost control of the bus and rammed against the auto-van on the other side of the road.  

Officer-in-charge of the Bhanga highway police station Sheikh Mahfuzur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune: “On getting the news, we rescued the injured passengers and the body from the accident scene. The bus involved in the accident has been seized.”
