RAB has arrested a man with 80 pieces of a new kind of yaba tablet from the Hatirjheel area of Dhaka.
Rajib Mollah, 22, was arrested on the early hours of Sunday, RAB-3 confirmed through a press release issued on Sunday evening.
According to the press release, acting on a tip-off, a RAB-3 team conducted a drive in the Olon area of West Rampura, near Hatirjheel, and arrested Rajib in the early hours of Sunday.
RAB recovered 80 pieces of yaba tablets and a mobile phone from Rajib.
However, the yaba tablets were white in colour, instead of the traditional pink or red colours, the press release said.
The press release added that since the start of the anti-drug drives, yaba traders have been coming up with newer methods to transport the drug from Myanmar, through the Teknaf border, to Dhaka.
One of the methods was to bring in a new kind of white-coloured yaba in an attempt to deceive law enforcement agencies, the statement read.
Legal action will be taken against the arrested, the press release said.
