Ongoing construction work is slowing traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway
A 13km long tailback has been formed on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway.
It began taking shape on Wednesday morning and Gajaria area of Munshiganj is bearing the brunt of the traffic jam.
Slow movement of vehicles is causing untold suffering to hundreds of passengers. Among the vehicles stuck in the jam are large numbers of cargo trucks, pickup trucks, and buses.
Bhaberchar highway police camp in-charge Md Habibur Rahman said: "There is traffic congestion in Gajaria area on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. The Meghna Bridge area mostly becomes blocked by four-five big cars.”
Additionally, construction work is going on in the area. So the place is under a lot of pressure from vehicles, he added.
