A clash erupted between leaders and activists of two factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League at a ceremony marking the Homecoming Day of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Barisal.
The incident took place in front of Bangabandhu’s statue, near the district and metropolitan Awami League party office at Shaheed Sohel Chattar around 9am on Thursday.
During the ceremony, a clash ensued following a disagreement over standing in front of Bangabandhu’s statue to place wreaths.
The argument between district Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Rajib Hossain Khan and Vice President Saiful Serniabat led to the clash.
Afterwards, senior party leaders and activists dealt with the matter and brought the situation under control.
Later in the evening, a discussion on the life, work and contributions of the Father of the Nation was held on the occasion in the party office, jointly organized by district and metropolitan Awami League.
