He allegedly used a Bkash number to receive advance payments for the paper
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested one fraudster for allegedly creating a fake Facebook messenger group through which to sell and collect fake question papers for the upcoming SSC and equivalent exams.
A team of RAB 6 CPC 1 arrested him in the Satkhira stadium area on Tuesday.
The arrestee has been identified as Ishtiaq Hossain Ahmed Yaqub, 18, son of Nur Alam Nantu of Laxmipur Bhatpara village in Rajshahi district.
While addressing the press at Satkhira’s RAB office, on Wednesday, RAB's Deputy Director Lieutenant Commander BN AMM Jahidul Kabir said: "Ishtiaq created a Facebook messenger group to supply fake question papers. Then he posted a status on Facebook about the fake question papers; while providing a number for those interested to contact him, as well as to pay an advance via Bkash.
"We have information that he collects fake question papers from various sources. Then he uses multiple social media platforms to sell those fake question papers to the students.
"Victim students unaware of the scam fall prey to temptation and send him huge sums of money to get the fake question papers. He has been scamming people for a very long time. We have seized a mobile phone from him," he added.
