Two people, including a Basic Bank official, have been killed—and 20 others injured—in a bus accident in Gopalganj.
A bus crashed into a roadside ditch on the Gopalganj-Kotalipara Highway, near the Khanarpar area of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila, around 9am on Tuesday.
The deceased are Senior Official (Cash) of Basic Bank's Kotalipara unit Nurul Islam, 40, of sadar upazila; and Momena Begum, 25, hailing from Kotalipara upazila.
Gopalganj Sadar police station Sub Inspector (SI) Sirajul Islam said: "The driver lost control of the bus while it was on its way to Kotalipara from Gopalganj, while crossing Khanarpar Bridge.
In seconds, the bus flipped over and crashed into a roadside ditch, leaving two people dead on spot and 20 others injured, he added.
The SI furthered: "The injured have been sent to Gopalganj General Hospital. Among them, the seven critically-injured people were admitted to the hospital, while the rest have been provided first aid."
