Ctg court building bustling with last moment electoral campaign

The Chittagong District Bar Association polls will be held at the bar association auditorium on Sunday

Candidates have been busy with their last moment campaign for the upcoming polls of the Chittagong District Bar Association, slated to be held on Sunday.

The election officials said they have wrapped up their preparations. The polls will be held at the bar association auditorium from 9am to 4pm on Sunday.

This time a total of 48 candidates from four panels are contesting for 19 posts, including nine secretarial and 10 executive.  

The panels are Ainjibi Oikya Parishad, Sammilita Ainjibi Shamannay Parishad, Samomana Ainjibi Sangsad, and Bangladesh Gonotantrik Ainjibi Samity.

Three lawyers are contending for the president's post- ASM Badrul Anwar of Oikya Parishad, Chandan Das of Samomana Sangsad, and Syed Moktar Ahmmed of Shamannay Parishad.

Ayyub Khan of Shamannay Parishad, Jahir Uddin Mahmud of Gonotantrik Samity, Touhidul Monir Chowdhury of Samomana Sangsad, and Md Kashem of Oikya Parishad are contesting for the post of general secretary.

Oikya Parisha and Shamannay Parishad have fielded their candidates in all 19 posts. Samomana Sangsad and Gonotantrik Samity have fielded in five and four posts respectively.

Ayyub Khan, general secretary candidate from Shamannay Parishad, said his panel will work for the welfare of all lawyers regardless of party affiliations.

Touhidul Monir Chowdhury, general secretary candidate of Samomana Sangsad, said the court building will be freed from all irregularities.

Jahir Uddin Mahmud, general secretary candidate of Gonotantrik Samity, said they will take initiatives to free the court building from all bribery and corruption.

ASM Badrul Anwar, president candidate of Oikya Parishad, said they will maintain good relations between the bar and bench, and work towards the welfare of all lawyers.
