A gas outage that has affected one third of the premier port city of Chittagong has entered its third day.

However, the gas distribution authorities have yet to announce by when the gas supply will be restored.

Talking to the Dhaka Tribune on Monday noon, Karnaphuli Gas Distribution Company Ltd Managing Director Khaiz Ahmed Mozumder said: "The repair work is ongoing. We are trying to restore the gas supply as soon as possible."

"Our team is working hard to fix the ruptured pipeline. However, till now we have not been able to reach the ruptured pipeline which is 15 feet underground.

"Our repair work is being delayed by the strong current in the canal and thick mud. I, myself, am supervising the whole operation by being present at the spot. I cannot say for sure when the gas supply will resume," he added.
