The prime accused, Biplab Hossain, passed away from heart failure in prison, during the trial
A Joypurhat court on Thursday sentenced four men to life imprisonment in a case over killing of a farmer in Khetlal upazila in 2016.
After examining all the records and witnesses, District and Session Judge, Begum Mamtaz Parvin, handed down the verdict.
The convicted are: Anisur Rahman, 32, Shablu Khan, 22, Ramjan Ali, 25, and Sohel Rana, 28, all residents of Golahar village.
The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each.
The prime accused, Biplab Hossain, 33, passed away in prison due to heart failure during the trial on January 20, 2017.
According to the case statement, Dulal Hossain rejected Biplab Hossain as a brother-in-law after Biplab secretly married Dulal’s sister.
Seeking revenge, Biplab, with four hired goons, murdered Dulal in his sleep at his residence.
Police recovered the slaughtered and stabbed body of farmer Dulal Hossain from his house on April 8, 2016.
Later, the victim's brother Jahangir Talukder, filed a murder case with Khetlal police station, accusing five people.
When police arrested the suspects, they gave a confessional statement to the court.
