A youth, accused in ten criminal cases, has been killed in a "gunfight" with the police in Khulna.
The deceased- Mirzaul Islam Miraz, 27- hailed from Fulbarigate area of the district.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, Daulatpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Mostak Ahmed said: “Miraz was detained by the police Friday night from Senpara area. After initial interrogation, a team took him on a drive to seize illegal cosmetics near the Agriculture College field.
“A gang of culprits hiding in the area began firing on the police, triggering a gunfight. Miraz got shot during the shoot-out. He was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where the on duty doctor declared him dead.”
The OC added that one firearm, two bullets, two cleavers, one knife, a screwdriver, a cache of stolen goods and 50 yaba tablets were seized from the spot during the raid.
