Financial support given to families of murdered Ansar men
Members of the Bangladesh Army have recovered the missing weapon of a slain Ansar man who died during the Baghaichhari attack in the Rangamati upazila which took place on Monday.
The weapon was found in a discarded state by Baghaihat Zone army members from a place called 10 Kilo in the Maraisha Dighinala area on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, two of the injured in the deadly attack Rowshan Ara Begum and Jochna Chakma were shifted to Khagrachari General Hospital from the Upazila Health Complex for better treatment.
Rangamati Ansar gives Tk1 lakh each to families of slain members
Each of the families of the killed Ansar men has been given Tk1 lakh at the Rangamati Ansar VDP office on Friday afternoon.
Ansar Chittagong Hill Tracts range Deputy Additional Director Md Shamsul Alam handed over the cheques, in the presence of Ansar District Commander Abdul Awal.
The families will also receive Tk4 lakh each as assured by the Ansar authorities.
Shamsul said: “The loss of lives is irreparable and no amount of money can fulfil it, but we are with the families and will support them in any way possible.
He further said: “Our force will bear the educational cost of the children of the slain members. Also those eligible, will be given jobs at the Ansar and VDP.
Earlier seven people including two assistant presiding officers, four Ansar men were shot dead and at least 26 others were injured, in a gun attack on a motorcade of election officials on the Sajek-Dighinala Road in Baghaichhari, on Monday.
Seven of the injured were brought to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka, on Tuesday, from the Chittagong CMH, where a total of 17 were admitted on Monday night.
Seven more injured are also currently undergoing treatment at the Baghaichhari Upazila Health Complex.
The officials were engaged in polls duty at three polling centres in the upazila during the voting in the second phase of the upazila polls.
