Robber shoots dead man in Lakshmipur

4 others were injured during the robbery

A businessman was shot dead for resisting a robbery at Jhaudogi village of Kushakhali upazila in Lakshmipur Sadar on Monday night.

Mosleh Uddin, 40, returned home from work to find robbers at his place. As he tried to stop them, he was shot by one of the robbers. His parents, son and brother were beaten up. The robbers succeeded in fleeing with four cows and expensive jewelleries.

Later on, local police admitted them to Sadar Hospital. As Mosleh Uddin's condition was critical, he was referred to Noakhali Sadar Hospital. He died on his way there.

Mosleh Uddin was a businessman of Noakhali Andarchor Chowdhury Bazar and the brother of Azad Patwary, general secretary of Kushkhali Union Jubo League.

The injured include his father Dudu Patwary, mother Ayesha Begum, son Arman Hossain and brother Milon Hossain.

Kushkhali Union Council Chairman Nurul Amin said, “Mosleh Uddin died from the robber's gunshot, while his family members were tied and beaten up. The injured ones are now under medical observation."

Officer-in-Charge of Chandraganj police station Abul Kalam Azad said, "Upon receiving information, police rescued the injured persons, including Mosleh Uddin, and took them to hospital. Mosleh died on the way to Noakhali Hospital for better treatment."
